Dear Friends,

The Latest
Things have been rather busy, as always, here at Fabbioli Cellars.  The reputation continues to grow, the efforts in quality and relationships continue to bear fruit.  I truly feel we are doing things right.  We are all a little tired, but enjoying the journey we have chosen.  The summer picnic, tour and fireworks show came together so well.  We learn something new each year, and really enjoy our customers that turn into our family with a hug, a toast and a bite of food.  Thanks again to all that make this work.

Deep Creek and Wholesale
We continue to get into interesting retail shops and restaurants with our wines.  As we were on vacation at Deep Creek Lake last week, I HAD to stop at a wine shop and chat.  Mary Ellen at Fireside Deli and Wine Shop ended up bringing in the full lineup of Fabbioli Wines and scheduled up a tasting on August 29th for us to meet her customers.  Stop by if you are in the area or visit the website at www.firesidedeli-wineshop.com.  Another grand opportunity.  Along those lines, the DC market continues to pick up.  Calvert and Woodley picked up the Tre Sorelle and Equinox Restaurant has picked up the Chambourcin.  It is great to see the diversity of wine selection and how well Doug Caldwell is building these relationships.  We also are in Whole Foods in Fair Lakes with all of our wines.

Staffing Update
It is with mixed feelings that Ryan Henderson is leaving his regular duties here at Fabbioli Cellars.  Ryan came in as an intern in the spring of 2007 and continued with us in all facets of the business including sales, vineyard and production.  He was indispensable when I had my health issues earlier this spring and I could relax on vacation knowing that he was holding down the fort.  Ryan went off to get a real job so at a later date he can afford to do this in a more established fashion.  He will still be here periodically, and will be involved in producing a new wine here to be announced later.  Dennis and Isi are still our mainstays in the tasting room on the weekends.  Having family like this makes it all worth while.  Thanks to all of you for doing what you do.

Looking for Help
Our needs are growing and we are looking for help.  As harvest approaches, and the festival season opens up again, Fabbioli Cellars is in search of a few good folks that would like to spend some time with us.  Versatility in skills is always important but enjoying good wine and sharing that with others is key.  Duties can vary depending on skills.  We have a bit of a personality here and if you think you can fit in, contact me at vinofab@aol.com or come out and talk.

Harvesting
I have had a lot of requests from people to help us harvest some grapes.  As they continue to ripen, I am getting closer to deciding which Saturday this will happen.  This is always a fun time and a great experience.  I designate the Cabernet Franc for this event and it usually will be early October, so check the next Email for the schedule and we hope you can come out for the experience.  We will have grapes coming in steadily starting in Mid September so there is always something brewing here.

Grapes for Home Winemakers
We will have some grapes available this fall.  Reservations will be taken similar to last year.  We will have Cabernet Franc and Chambourcin available along with a few odd varietals.  Aaron Daniels will be organizing this again at Marathonchef@aol.com.

U-Pick Raspberries
This seems to be working well.  The fruit is ripening regularly now and tasting great.  We planted more rows so there is enough for our needs and yours.  We offer this on our regular tasting days or by appointment.  Thanks again for playing with us and enjoying what we do.

A Day Off
We will be closed on Sunday August 31 for a private Family function.  I hope you all understand this and can plan accordingly.  Thanks and we will see you soon.

There are plenty of wine festivals this fall to catch us at as well as the Farm tour weekend on October 18 and 19.  Check our website events list as I have trouble keeping up to date myself.
