Dear Friends,

Growing in the Vineyard

We are deep into a new growing season at this point.  With all the rains and the heat, the vines are jumping with big shoots, clusters and wild abandon.  We are working hard this week to get them trained and positioned to expose the fruit and allow the leaves the best shot at absorbing the sunshine.  The new vines are growing strong as well as all of the berries and other crops we planted.  We still have a number of landscaping shrubs available as well as raspberry plants.  Come by to see what we have as we are continuing this project.  We like to use the land.  We will have trees next year!

Next event June 21, 5pm:  BBQ dinner at the Fabbioli’s
Here are a few notes from Aaron to invite you out to a casual evening of slow cooked local foods made for you.  Pricing is $20 per person and seating is limited.  Enjoy what we do, as it is always unique.  Email Doug for reservations, vinofab@aol.com.

Hoping to bring you by for barbeque we are at Fabbioli Cellars.  No, this isn’t the little green guy (Yoda) but resident chef Aaron inviting ya’ll to our dinner on Saturday, June 21st.  At 5pm we’ll set out a plethora of sides to complement our three main meats. We’ll even leave it up to you to decide which wine(s) to pair with your meal.  The cooking will be going on all day, whetting the appetites of all who come by, so be sure to reserve your spot early.  We will have a laid-back wine dinner-esque experience for you, celebrating the art of the earliest cooking method.

Hello Maryland and DC!!
We recently got our licensing completed to self-distribute our wine in Maryland and Washington, DC. We are very excited to be able to bring our wines closer to such an enthusiastic customer  base.  We are already in several restaurants in DC (check our website) and most recently our Raspberry Merlot and Cabernet Franc is being sold at Dean and Deluca in Georgetown. This is a wonderfully intimate gourmet grocery store that deserves a visit next time you’re in that part of town. We will soon have our Cabernet Franc featured at Maggiano’s on Wisconsin Avenue. We are making contact with Maryland locations will update you as progress is made. If you are a resident of Maryland or DC, let us know where you want our wine!

Event coming up July 26, 5pm
Summer evening of pot luck, soccer, music, vintage tastings and fireworks.  This is a great event that we have done for a few years now.  You may need to bring a blanket or chairs to sit, but we have a real back yard feel at this event.  (We are so good at faking this!)  Bring a dish or two to share, as we will have hot dogs, sausages and corn to share.  This is a great chance to enjoy the evening here and the company of others.  Also, I will open a few bottles of some older wines so you can get to know what is in your cellar without opening it up.

Coming up in the Cellar!
We bottled the 2007 Cabernet Franc last week and it tastes great.  For those fans of the 2006 Cab Franc, you will not be disappointed.  This new one certainly says Fabbioli all over it, and has lots of structure, layers and flavors to show for years to come.  Is it available yet?  You know my motto, “wine tastes a lot better in a glass than in a bottle with a cork in it.”  We are looking forward to making more of the Black Raspberry surprise this summer as well as a reserve Cabernet Franc and Tannat.  Oh, and there is the pear project to finish up as well along with bottling the Chambourcin and Tre Sorelle.  I guess I have a little work to do before the grapes start coming in.  It is a good thing I like my job.  Thanks so much to everyone who has visited, purchased and shared our wines with others.  The word of mouth factor has been great especially because those mouths have had a little wine.
