Dear Friends,
What’s Up on the Fabbioli
Front
As always, we are adding new people
to the email list. To those new people, welcome to the family. Before
you delete yourself from the list, try and read a few of the updates.
The approach of these notes tends to be somewhere between brief, informative
note, marketing, wine industry insider education and some crazy peeks
inside Doug’s head. Ride it out and give me feedback.
Next Open House:
After wrestling with the weather in February, we have
decided to try again for March. We will have an Open House on March
24th from noon until 5pm. This will have some light fare and family
fun. I am hoping things will be a little warmer and drier than previous
days that we tried to do this.
Frannie, this
is for you: Also, we will be open on March 17 for
any St. Patrick’s Day visitors. We have missed a lot of people
due to scheduling issues and weather. This may not have the fanfare
of an Open House, but as I learned recently, these smaller tastings
can be pretty fun and effective. We are looking forward to seeing
you folks at either of these.
Green Friday:
The day after Thanksgiving has traditionally been a day owned by the
shopping malls of America. Those of us in the rural economy are trying
to help consumers think beyond that. We are planning to set up a market/faire
in downtown Leesburg to have local products available to shoppers
for gifts along with an educational aspect of how those dollars that
stay local effect the environment and businesses around you. This
idea is just starting to flesh out and of course I am pretty involved
in it. You will be kept up to date.
Opportunities
to Help: If you have seen the calendar for Fabbioli
Cellars, you can see we have been and are going to be pretty busy.
We have had and continue to have some great help. Cara, Ben, Vicki,
Larry, Janet, JB, Rich, Meredith, Maureen, Jenny, Dennis and so many
others have been key to making this work. My next thing to do is to
start organizing a few more for tasting opportunities, along with
harvest and other things. This is not an open casting call, but if
you have some time, flexibility, and are looking to work hard, let
me know. We can talk further. I know I cannot do it all, but that
does not keep me from trying. Thanks.
