Dear Friends,
Here is another Email from the Fabbiolis.
I got some honest compliments about our last Emails, so I thought
one more update before our Open House would be good. Erase, ignore
or ask to be removed if it gets annoying.
Space Management
The porch plan worked very well. We now have our screen
porch protected from the cold and wind: 65F when I turn on the heater.
The Harberts were the first to break it in with a private tour and
tasting for 16 of their closest friends. Now their friends are our
friends too. It is pretty cool how that works. I am looking forward
to using this for wine seminars and other group tastings. This will
come in handy on Sunday as the temperature dips a little.
Production and Vineyard Bottling
went very well on the 17th. The Raspberry Merlot bottles arrived at
8:15am and were starting to be filled at 9:30am. This is the definition
of Just-in-Time Production, just like I studied at Syracuse. Also,
we were selling it 24 hours later at Mom’s Pies in Leesburg.
RASBERRY MERLOT IS HERE!!!
The 2006 wines are in barrels. I checked
them all today and stirred them. I will share some of them Sunday
and whenever you may come by. We will rack some barrels next week.
We started pruning the vineyard today also. There is lots of training,
cutting and tying of young vines to do over the next few months. It
always feels good to get it started.
Sales and Such
Some of you may have seen Ben and me out at Mom’s
Pies in Leesburg. You may have seen the poster of our mugs also. Avis
Cox (Mom) pulled off this marketing plan with Maureen Berg (Tre Sorelle
Artist). She photographed Steve Cox, Ben and me on our crushpad the
last day of crushing. I guess we should put this up on the website.
Pretty cool shot.

Ongoing Teachers,
Winegrowers, and Others for Private Tastings - If you need some wine
for the holidays and you cannot fit these dates into your busy holiday
schedule, don’t be shy. We can make time to hook up with you.
You can purchase wine online also.
Wood Fired Pottery
Shawn Grove and Brian Mattraw have a neat pottery studio at the base
of Furnace Mountain in Lucketts. Both are teachers in Loudoun and
are opening their studio for folks to come by and see their craft.
(maybe even buy a pot to support the local starving artists). I get
many comments about our pottery and it comes from these guys. We will
have some show pieces here on the 3rd and they have their open house
on Dec 2nd and 3rd at 41718 Browns Farm Lane. Follow the signs from
Lucketts or contact Shawn at 703-771-4264 or Brian at mattraw@juno.com.
Thanks again for all the encouragement
and support you give us. It is great to make and share this stuff.
I will send one more gushy Email before Christmas to give everyone
our best.
